Donation FAQ

This is a list of questions we most commonly receive regarding donations.

  • How much of my donation is used to fund health studies?

    100% of you annual donation goes to fund health studies unless you specify otherwise.

  • Is my gift tax deductible?

    Yes, every donor will receive a thank you with the amount of the donation. This thank you can serve as your receipt for tax purposes.

  • Do I have to make my donation online?

    No, you don't have to make your donation online. You may mail it in with a check or credit card number. You may also call and we'll take your donation over the phone. If you mail the donation and it is in memory or honor of a pet, person, or occasion, please be sure to include the name of the pet or person and thea ddress for the memorial or honor card to be sent.

  • Which donation form should I use?
    • General donation: use this form if you are making a donation with no memorials, honors, etc.
    • Memorial donation: use this form if you are making a donation in memory of a pet or a person ($10 minimum)
    • Honor an animal lover: use this form if you are making a donation in honor of a person ($10 minimum)
    • Honor an occasion: use this form if you are making a donation because of an occasion (i.e., somebody has requested for donations to be made to MAF in lieu of presents for a wedding or birthday) ($10 minimum)
    • Honor a veterinarian: use this form if you would like to add a veterinarian to the Vet Honor Roll ($500 minimum)
  • Which fund do I want my gift to support?
    • All: Gift will go toward general studies and be allocated to the area of most need.
    • Dogs: Gift will go toward a canine study
    • Cats: Gift will go toward a feline study
    • Birds: Gift will go toward an avian study
    • Horses: Gift will go toward an equine study
    • Llamas/Alpacas: Gift will go toward a llama/alpaca study
    • Wildlife: Gift will go toward a wildlife study
    • Gorillas: Gift will go toward the Mountain Gorilla Veterinary Project in Africa
    • Meisha's Hope:Gift will go toward canine autoimmune hemolytic anemia

    • Equine Health Initiative: Gift will go towards the Equine Health Initiative
    • Canine Cancer Campaign: Gift will go toward a studies in our Canine Cancer Campaign
    • Zupreem®: Gift will be matched by the Zupreem Foundation and will go toward an avian study

  • If MAF is sending a card on my behalf, will the recipient know how much I donated?

    No, you will receive a letter with the amount of your donation. The card received by the recipient will indicate who sent the card but not the amount of the gift

  • If MAF is sending a card on my behalf, will the recipient know which fund my gift supports?

    No, you will receive a letter with the fund you chose, but the card we send in memory or honor will not.
